    The Department of Philosophy at St. Francis Xavier University invites applications for one (1) nine-month, limited-term position, beginning September 1, 2025, at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor for the 2025-26 academic year. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

    The applicant should have a PhD or the dissertation very near completion. Teaching load: three courses per term (a total of six courses). The primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be to teach a combination of the following: Introductory Philosophy, Philosophy of Science, Formal Logic, Critical Thinking, Biomedical Ethics, and one additional philosophy course. See https://www.stfx.ca/department/philosophy/courses A strong familiarity with the history of philosophy is an asset. Availability to teach courses in-person is required. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply. The Department is seeking candidates who are committed to contributing to StFX’s priorities of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
